12/10/2023 0 Comments 82nd airborne wolfpack logoThe unit was re-designated on 6 August 1994 as an OH-58D battalion and began their trek once again to Fort Hood TX to field a new airframe. Company E was constituted 16 June 1992 in the Army Reserve and activated at Fort Bragg, North Carolina the unit was subsequently inactivated on 15 April 1995 at Fort Bragg North Carolina. The deployment would last through the year and find the unit fully redeployed on 2 April 1991. In the early hours of 7 August 1990, the unit was alerted and uploaded for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. The mission success was undeniable and the professionalism of the unit carried on the finest traditions of the 82nd Airborne Division. They returned from Fort Hood after 8 months of training ready for combat operations world-wide as part of the 82nd Airborne Division’s strategic response force.ġst battalion became the first Apache equipped Battalion to engage the enemy with their deployment of B Co(+) to operation Just cause on 15 November 1989. The unit became the third unit in the Army to complete the AH-64A fielding (called the Apache training Brigade at the time) in March of 1987. 1st Battalion was originally constituted on 15 November 1962 in the Regular Army as Company A, 82nd Aviation Battalion, an element of the 82nd Airborne Division, and was activated on 7 December 1962 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.ġst Battalion was reorganized and re-designated 15 January 1987 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 82nd Aviation Regiment – an element of the 82nd Airborne Division (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated).
